The Opportunity
Fiji National University seeks to appoint a new Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) to embrace the opportunity to bring strategic leadership, commitment and energy to deliver on its commitment to student employability and its vision of being recognised as a key driver of Fiji’s economic prosperity, for students, staff and the community.
Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the PVC (Research and Innovation) will provide strategic leadership on all matters relating to research and development, innovation, translation and commercialisation in alignment with the FNU Strategic Plan.
With a commitment to equity and diversity, the successful candidate will have high academic credibility and a passion for driving outcomes and engagement.  Demonstrated experience in research leadership, including networks and partnerships in industry and government will be important, with the ability to work in an international context.  Outstanding communication skills, a change mindset and the ability to see creative solutions to complex challenges will be essential.  Currently at professorial level (or equivalent), a PhD qualification is essential.

Established in its current form in 2010, Fiji National University (FNU) is a young and dynamic university, with deep roots from its constituent colleges, dating back to 1885.  FNU’s mission is to support the economic and social development of Fiji through relevant, high-quality education and training that maximises graduate employability and applied research that has positive societal impact.
FNU is a dual sector university, offering higher education courses from certificates to doctorates, plus technical and vocational education.  With six campuses in Suva and one each in Nadi, Lautoka, Ba and Labasa, FNU provides nationwide access to tertiary education to almost 20,000 students each year.
