The Position
The Program Director, Pathology is a key senior role and is responsible for the overall leadership of the laboratories across Eastern Health, including professional, scientific, advisory, organisational, and educational areas. Reporting to the Executive Director Clinical Operations ASPPPA,  the Director will oversee operations of the service and identify new opportunities for growth and continuous improvement and quality across multiple sites.  With a workforce of approximately 140 staff, the Director will build leadership capability, drive a culture that is positive and empowering and be an advocate and voice of the service across Eastern Health.  In addition, the Director will identify new opportunities for collaboration and growth and represent the service in future partnerships.
As an inspirational leader, the ideal candidate will have led a laboratory or laboratory discipline (eg chemistry, microbiology) and have an understanding of the public health environment. The successful incumbent will have previous experience in managing and increasing efficiencies across a laboratory, and have the ability to bring together functions, lead change management and have a vision for future growth. Presenting with highly effective interpersonal skills, experience in fostering an environment of continuous improvement and innovation, the successful Program Director will also have the ability to develop key stakeholder relationships at senior levels across Eastern Health and in the external environment.
