The Position
Ambulance Victoria (AV) seeks to appoint a collaborative and driven Program Lead – Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander, to join its newly established Equality & Workplace Reform Division.  The Program Lead – Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander will play a key role in designing, coordinating and implementing AV’s program of work to create a safe, fair and inclusive workplace, focusing on improving programs to strengthen Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander inclusion and that support the realisation of genuine reconciliation.
Reporting to the Senior Lead, Diversity & Inclusion, the Program Lead – Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander will play a key leadership role in the development of practices, policies and procedures that strengthen inclusion and cultural safety levels, fairness and transparency for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander employees, first responders and patients. This position will also play a leadership role in the implementation of AV’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
The appointee will be a subject matter expert on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, and issues facing Victorian Aboriginal communities. Evidencing a record of building strong trusting relationships with Aboriginal people and advocating for reform through consultation and targeted engagement, the successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge and understanding of Victorian equal opportunity and human rights legislation, policy, and frameworks. Excellent stakeholder and partnership development skills and highly developed communication skills, including the ability to prepare high quality reports and presentations for a range of audiences will also be key to the success of this role.  The ability to challenge and improve process and thinking, resilience, empathy and adaptability will also be important attributes for success.
