Trade & Investment Queensland (TIQ), seeks to appoint a strategic and commercially astute individual to become the Queensland Trade and Investment Commissioner – Korea, based in Seoul. Aided by the Korea-Australia Free Trade Agreement signed in 2014 (one of only 11 FTAs) Korea is today Queensland’s third largest trading partner and is poised as a promising investor in variety of areas including major new energy projects.
The Commissioner will lead a team of trade and investment specialists to champion economic opportunities between Korea and Queensland. Guiding and supporting stakeholders by providing market intelligence, business leads and advice is central to this role.
The successful candidate for this locally engaged position will be a senior level, commercially astute leader who has an understanding of government and deep familiarity with Korea and Australia. Recognised as inspiring and known for being an outstanding communicator who has exceptional people skills, the appointee will be a strategic thinker who has a record of applying sound corporate governance. Evidencing a commitment to championing innovative ideas, the incumbent will demonstrate detailed knowledge in one or more of the Queensland Government’s key industry sectors (new energy, biohealth and education and training).
