The Position

Trade & Investment Queensland (TIQ) seeks to appoint a contemporary, innovative and commercially astute individual to become its Trade and Investment Commissioner – Taiwan. The economic relationship between Queensland and Taiwan has evolved in recent years to include exciting opportunities in new and emerging sectors and the new Commissioner will build on the success to date.

This Commissioner position reports to the Queensland Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner – North Asia, and will lead and manage the Taiwan office, being responsible for the development of market strategies and the achievement of trade, investment, international education outcomes across the market. The broad industry focus includes life sciences, resource recovery, renewable energy, food, agriculture and education.

The successful candidate for this locally engaged position will be a senior level, commercially astute leader who understands government and has a deep familiarity with Australia and Taiwan. Recognised as contemporary and client focussed and known for being an outstanding communicator who has exceptional people skills, the appointee will be a strategic thinker who has a record of applying sound corporate governance. Evidencing a commitment to championing innovative ideas, the incumbent will demonstrate detailed knowledge in one or more of the Queensland Government’s key industry sectors as outlined above. They will have well developed geopolitical understanding and coupled with strong English and Mandarin skills, will evidence a record of building highly effective relationships.
