The Position
The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) seeks to appoint a highly collaborative and committed leader to the position of Regional Director – Midwest to oversee the development and delivery of safe, consumer centric services across a large part of the State. Partnering with external service providers and other government agencies, the Regional Director will ensure continuous improvement of health outcomes and experiences for this vibrant community, giving consumers more choice and control.
Sitting on the WACHS Executive and reporting to the organisation’s Chief Operating Officer, the Regional Director – Midwest will drive a collaborative and integrated health system across the region that delivers focussed and accessible services for those who need it most. Taking a highly strategic and client centric approach, the Regional Director – Midwest will be expected to embrace innovation and technology and create an even more connected and equitable health system.
Equipped with experience overseeing the delivery of high quality health and/or human services, the successful candidate will have a track record of making a difference to the lives of people at the community level. As a values-driven contemporary leader who is resilient and who eagerly accepts and meets challenges, the appointee will be recognised as an individual who can work across all levels of an organisation and who embraces change, innovation and the continual improvement of services. Evidencing a record of building high performing teams the appointee will demonstrate outstanding communication skills and effective collaboration. An awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Island societies and cultures, coupled with an understanding of the challenges affecting Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander communities in contemporary Australia is advantageous.
The Organisation
Geographically, the WA Country Health Service is one of the largest health services in the world. A team of 10,000 dedicated staff provide hospital and related services across an area of more than 2.5 million square kilometres, from Kalumburu in the Kimberley to Albany in the Great Southern.
The Midwest health region of Western Australia covers more than 605,000 square kilometres, nearly one fifth of the State, with its population concentrated along the coast. The major population centre is Geraldton. Other main towns are Dongara, Kalbarri, Morawa, Meekatharra, Mullewa, Carnarvon and Exmouth. The population of around 65,000 receive a wide range of health services from 17 sites across the region comprising hospitals, health centres and nursing posts, with the Geraldton Health Campus being the regional health campus.
