About the opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health provides an exciting and innovative learning environment, working with individuals, families and communities in order to meet their health needs and requirements. The Faculty is distinctive for its multidisciplinary understanding of client care, commitment to the prevention of disease, and promotion of healthy lifestyles and working with Indigenous colleagues to develop culturally appropriate models of care.
The Faculty offers fields of study across a broad range of health-related professions including biomedical science, clinical exercise physiology, diabetes education and management, midwifery, naturopathic medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, osteopathy, pedorthics, podiatry, psychology, speech pathology, social work, social welfare, and sport and exercise science.
As the Associate Professor/Professor, you will lead the design and delivery of a new academic course offering in Physiotherapy.
This position will contribute to the curriculum development, assessment, teaching, research and service ensuring the strength of the discipline.
At the Professor level, you will bring strong leadership experience and be extended to conduct research that is nationally recognised and obtain research grants while supervising HDR students.
You are a forward thinking, innovate scholar with expertise and experience in physiotherapy education.
The preferred candidate possess a PhD, academic and clinical experience and current registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia as an Accredited Physiotherapist. More specifically, you will have:
- Sustained excellence in teaching and a tertiary level in physiotherapy and leadership in the design and implementation of a similar course offering.
- A solid track record in research, evidenced by external grants, publication output and research impact, including management of a research team and supervision of PhD students.
- Demonstrated success in facilitation engagement with professional bodies and community groups with a solid network of professionals in the discipline.
As a Professor you will be expected to demonstrate a successful record of academic leadership, including the ability to lead innovation and inspire excellence amongst colleagues.
Salary and benefits

This a continuing position based at either the Gold Coast, Lismore or Coffs Harbour campuses. Generous relocation support is available.
The successful candidate can negotiate a part-time or full-time appointment.
The level of appointment will be made at Associate Professor (Level D) or Professor (Level E) commensurate with the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.
The base salary for Academic Level D ranges from $148,746 to $163,655 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $191,476 per annum.
The base salary for Academic Level E is $190,982 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $223,448 per annum.
