The Position
The Australian Red Cross (ARC) seeks to appoint a highly talented, values-driven individual to become its new Secretary. The position will support the Society Secretary & Chief Governance Officer in ensuring that statutory obligations are being met as well as ensuring the efficient and effective operation of all ARC Board and Committee meetings, facilitating seamless communication and providing expert advice on relevant governance issues.
In this full-time, permanent position, the Secretary is a lead governance specialist for the organisation. Interfacing with Board Directors and senior Executives, the Secretary will provide key advisory support on all aspects of corporate governance and company secretarial practice in line with internal policies with a focus on continuously improving Board and Committee practices.
Tertiary qualified and equipped with strong legal knowledge, the successful candidate will have a well-developed understanding of contemporary governance compliance and procedures, Recognised as a dynamic individual with exceptional written and verbal communication skills coupled with an eye for detail, the appointee will have a track record advising Executives/Board of Directors on matters of governance, compliance and best practice. Experience with corporate policymaking and interpretation of legislation/regulations in complex, fast paced environments is essential. Naturally collaborative, the appointee will also be digitally savvy and have the ability to navigate complex environments and provide solutions. Qualified professional membership of the Governance Institute of Australia and/or the Australian Institute of Company Directors preferred.
