The Position

Ambulance Victoria (AV) is committed to creating a safer, more inclusive and more equal workplace based on recommendations from the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission. The organisation has accepted the Commission’s recommendation to establish a new organisational response to complaints of unlawful and harmful conduct and accordingly, AV seeks to appoint experienced Senior Case Managers, specialist roles within the Professional Standards and Behaviours Department, providing authoritative expertise and professional advice in end to end case management.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Intake, Response and Support, the Senior Cases Managers will be the single point of contact for all parties in the complaint lifecycle process (including complex complaints) and will ensure a people-centred approach, and the safety and welfare of all parties. The incumbents will maintain regular contact with all parties, identifying appropriate support requirements, including referral to specialist services and manage immediate risks. The Senior Case Managers will also work closely with all parties to manage expectations of process and confidentiality requirements. To support prevention and early intervention activities, the Senior Case Managers will provide education and coaching of AV staff to identify, and resolve interpersonal conflict, harmful or unlawful conduct in their workplace.

The successful candidates will display highly developed organisational skills and strong communication skills, both written and verbal for the preparation of briefs, letters, investigation and performance reports and documentation.  The ability to make sound decisions (at times with limited information) and well-developed problem-solving skills to support decision making, will be critical for success in these roles. Collaboration, focus on quality and a high attention to detail will also contribute to success.  Completion of a postgraduate degree or relevant industry certification with sound experience in Industrial Relations, Human Resources or equivalent or extensive relevant experience is essential.

The Organisation

Ambulance Victoria’s (AV) workforce of more than 6,000 highly trained paramedics and intensive care paramedics, some 1,500 community first responders and over 500 corporate and specialist support staff are dedicated to providing best care every single day.

With a 138-year history of leveraging leading edge research and innovative, and evidence-based clinical practices, Ambulance Victoria responds to close to a million Triple Zero (000) calls for emergency medical response annually.

AV is a unique working environment, where the actions of each employee and volunteer contribute to the aim of caring for our patients. With the lifesaving work of AV paramedics at the cornerstone of our work, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important to helping us help the community.

At all levels of AV, a diverse and inclusive workforce allows the organisation to deliver Best Care to the Victorian community, and helps create a healthier, more productive workplace for the people within AV.
