The Position

Ambulance Victoria (AV) is committed to creating a safer, more inclusive and more equal workplace based on recommendations from the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission. The organisation has accepted the Commission’s recommendation to establish a new organisational response to complaints of unlawful and harmful conduct and accordingly, AV seeks to appoint a technically competent data analyst to lead the way in taking large volumes of complex data, extracting insights, and helping augment the organisation’s response to issues around professional standards and behaviours.

This position sits in the Professional Standards and Behaviours Department which has high Executive and Board visibility. Reporting to the Senior Manager Policy & Research, the Senior Data Analyst will provide technical expertise to support the design, development and interpretation of activities monitored by the newly formed Professional Standards and Behaviours Department. The position also manages and creates fit-for-purpose reports that translate complex and sensitive complaints and reporting data into meaningful insights.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a data analyst, and will have worked with and have knowledge of statistics and statistical packages used for analysing large and complex data sets. The successful candidate will also have experience in distilling complex analysis into meaningful narratives and visualisations for senior and non-expert audiences. They will have strong conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills coupled with well-developed planning and organising skills as well as an outstanding customer service orientation. Highly developed communication skills with a strong attention to detail is a must.

The Organisation

Ambulance Victoria’s (AV) workforce of more than 6,000 highly trained paramedics and intensive care paramedics, some 1,500 community first responders and over 500 corporate and specialist support staff are dedicated to providing best care every single day.

With a 138-year history of leveraging leading edge research and innovative, and evidence-based clinical practices, Ambulance Victoria responds to close to a million Triple Zero (000) calls for emergency medical response annually.

AV is a unique working environment, where the actions of each employee and volunteer contribute to the aim of caring for our patients. With the lifesaving work of AV paramedics at the cornerstone of our work, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important to helping us help the community.

At all levels of AV, a diverse and inclusive workforce allows the organisation to deliver Best Care to the Victorian community, and helps create a healthier, more productive workplace for the people within AV.
