  • Leadership and operational management focus
  • Drive a strong regional growth strategy
  • Identify new clients and programs

The Position
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT (GDN) is one of the leading providers of orientation & mobility (O&M) services for people who are blind or vision impaired. GND is a non-profit organisation.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager of Client Services, the Service Manager will be responsible for leading the implementation of the Client Services growth strategy and the operational management of staff in the regional centre and a number of satellite offices across their region. This translates to identification of new clients and new program opportunities which will lead to establishing more GDN offices to deliver these services.
The ideal candidate will be a strong, proactive, positive leader with excellent operational management skills preferably from extensive experience gained in a not-for-profit, community health or disability service organisation. A proven track record in managing others to achieve growth outcomes is essential, as is the demonstrated ability to identify and deliver new opportunities to bring services closer to the client and community and ensure GND market competitiveness. Skilled in managing a disparate workforce you will enjoy the regional travel associated with these roles.
Strategic and resilient, the successful candidate will have sound knowledge of evidence-based practice, client-centred philosophies and an appreciation of how these relate to service delivery for people who are blind or vision impaired would be advantageous. Proven relationship and stakeholder management capability with regional communities, superior communication skills, strong influencing and negotiating skills, high emotional intelligence and an empowering leadership style to recruit and develop high performing teams are skills and attributes which will contribute to success as a SM. Well-developed administration skills are also a pre-requisite to the self-sufficient approach to reporting expected.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. allied health, specialist teaching, eye health professional and a current NSW/ACT driver’s license or the ability to travel independently to other locations within NSW/ACT is required.
