  • Drive a unique statewide community program
  • Manage relationships with key partners
  • Contribute to the development and growth of a new program

The Position

The trusted and respected community health service, Merri Health, seeks to appoint a talented Program specialist to lead its Carer Gateway program which continues to grow across Victoria. Carer Gateway is an Australian Government initiative that delivers services to unpaid carers across Australia. In Victoria, these services are provided by a consortia of seven health and social support providers led by Merri Health.

Reporting to Merri Health’s General Manager Healthy Communities, the State Manager Carer Gateway will continue to drive fruitful relationships with consortia members and ensure the consistent and efficient provision of person centered services that meet or exceed requirements set by the Commonwealth funding agency. The State Manager Carer Gateway will manage all central functions of the program including: contracts, reporting, monitoring, performance, community engagement and intake. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Commonwealth government to influence policy, advocacy and continuous improvement.

Equipped with experience delivering national / statewide / regional programs, the ideal candidate will have a record of developing and sustaining successful collaborations and partnerships coupled with a record of providing strong leadership, direction and task delegation.  Offering superior strategic and operational problem solving skills, the appointee will have substantial experience in managing budgets and financial monitoring and reporting and will present as collaborative, personable and confident with the ability to make timely and well thought out decisions. While knowledge of the carer space is not essential, it is considered advantageous, as is knowledge of aged care and/or disability.

The Organisation

Merri Health creates healthy, connected communities through a range of wrap around services for people at every age and stage of life. The organisation has been a trusted provider of wellbeing services for over 45 years and today has over 400 staff making it one of Victoria’s largest not-for-profit community health organisations. With a reach extending from north / west metropolitan Melbourne to Wodonga, the service currently operates from 12 sites in addition to several co-located facilities. Merri Health continues to take a stand with the most vulnerable in our community, ensuring equitable access of healthcare to those who would otherwise fall through the gaps in the current health system.

Merri Health is an equal opportunity employer and committed to ensuring a safe environment for children and young people. We encourage individuals of diverse backgrounds including but not limited to those from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, the GLBTIQ community and those living with a disability to join our workforce.
