Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
As Toi Pūmanawa — Director, People and Capability, you will report to the Vice Chancellor, be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, be an ambassador of the University values, and lead a multidisciplinary Human Resources team of over 50 staff at Wellington’s second largest employer. The University is transforming as the tertiary sector embraces digital services, responds to the impacts of Covid, and sees record research funding.
As the Human Resources team reviews its own services, and implements digital solutions, the role has the opportunity to develop the vision for this function at the University and transform the services that supports the University as it strives to achieve its strategic plan and ambitions.
Ō pūmanawa – About you
You will be a dynamic and experienced HR leader with a track record of operating at a strategic level in large and complex organisations. You will be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in people leadership, stakeholder management, and navigating senior leadership structures in organisations.  A strong commitment to and understanding of the bi-cultural context of New Zealand will be important.
Your career to date will show you to be an astute HR professional, connected to the HR community, and current with HR best practices globally. Your experience will include organisational design, employee relations, and influencing organisational culture. You will be able to show the capability to lead multi-disciplinary teams of HR practitioners to a shared vision, and demonstrate how you have transformed services, fostered digital adoption, and enabled innovation.
