Victorian State Director
- Lead Australian Red Cross operations in Victoria
- Drive impactful community programs
- Build on an excellent brand and reputation
The prominent humanitarian organisation, Australian Red Cross, seeks to appoint a talented senior leader to become its State Director for Victoria. This is a senior role that is responsible for the optimal delivery and performance of impactful community programs across realms such as emergencies and migration.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the Director of State & Territory Operations, the State Director Victoria is responsible for ensuring financial sustainability, providing local leadership and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policy. Positively positioning Australian Red Cross within the community and building strong relationships with local and state government and other partner organisations is a key element of the role.
The ideal candidate will have extensive and diverse senior leadership experience within a community service or service delivery organisation and will ideally have experience working and engaging with local communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. Used to working in a matrix structure, they will be able to effectively manage areas that don’t have a strong line reporting to them. They will be the sort of leader who creates and inspires a culture of positive collaboration and continuous self-development, and who has a commitment to excellence in driving quality delivery, high performance and achieving outcomes/impact. Recognised as having well-developed financial management skills and organisational acumen, they will have the ability to work under broad direction with a high degree of autonomy and use initiative on a regular basis to advance and execute strategy.
Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian Movement. Red Cross mobilises the power of humanity to bring people and communities together in times of need and builds on community strengths.
As a body independent of government, and with no political, religious, or cultural affiliation, the organisation strives to improve peoples’ lives and build their resilience no matter who they are or where they live.
All Red Cross work is guided by the seven Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality.
A strong and active Red Cross can do much to assist public authorities and all levels of government in the humanitarian field. There are a number of characteristics that distinguish Australian Red Cross from nongovernment organisations (NGOs), the United Nations (UN) and other elements of civil society.
