Professor Chad Hewitt is the new Provost at Lincoln University – Te Whare Wānaka O Aoraki

Lincoln University sought an outstanding candidate as their first Provost to provide institutional leadership for the delivery of the education and research strategy while maintaining and advancing the University’s academic position and reputation.  This role is critical to the development of a world class research and teaching precinct at the University and will help solve grand challenges for the land-based sector.

Bringing international experience across the academic, government and research sectors, Professor Chad Hewitt was selected as the successful candidate.  Most recently leading the Biosecurity and One Health Research Centre and providing coordination of defence research opportunities at Murdoch University, Chad’s research interests are broadly in role humans play in changing the natural world, particularly in biosecurity management, and how natural science can influence management and policy.  A former Dean of Science and Chair of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Waikato, Chad has also held leadership positions at CQ University, the University of Tasmania and as a Principal Science Advisor to Biosecurity New Zealand.
