Professor Lee Godden is Amo Tātai Ture – Dean, Faculty of Law at Victoria University of Wellington – Te Herenga Waka

Fisher Leadership was delighted to continue our partnership with Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington recently on three important positions.  Ranked as New Zealand’s leading university for research quality, the University’s vision is to be a world-leading capital city university and one of the great global-civic universities.  Its iho, or essence, is as a global-civic university with its marae at heart.

The newly created leadership role of Amo Tātai Ture – Dean of the Faculty of Law provides strategic direction and academic oversight to all aspects of the research, teaching, civic and external engagement functions for the Faculty of Law.  An accomplished leader with significant scholarly achievement in law was sought to inspire and lead the team through transformation, fostering a shared vision.

Bringing over 25 years’ academic experience, teaching across a diversity of law subjects and managing and delivering an interdisciplinary, environmental, University-wide teaching and engagement program, Professor Lee Godden was appointed to this important position.  Most recently Director of the Centre for Resources, Energy and Environmental Law, Melbourne Law School at the University of Melbourne, Lee brings academic leadership and research interests in the areas of environmental resources law, natural resources law, water law, and Indigenous people’s land and resources rights.  She has developed and taught successful interdisciplinary programmes, including the Masters of Environmental Law.

Lee’s earlier roles include Law Reform Commissioner (Review of the Native Title Act 1993) for the Australian Law Reform Commission, and she spent eight years at Griffith University, including as Deputy Dean of Griffith Law School.
