Professor Craig Baillie is Head of School and Dean (Agriculture and Environmental Science) at the University of Southern Queensland

Our team was delighted to continue our partnership with the University of Southern Queensland on School leadership roles within the restructured Academic Affairs Portfolio.

For each Head of School and Dean position, the University sought collegiate leaders with outstanding communication and influencing skills and the ability to foster relationships with stakeholders across academia, industry, research partners and the community.  The ability to develop and communicate a vision, building and inspiring interdisciplinary teams and promoting the profile of the School and the University more broadly, particularly at its intersection with regional Australia was essential, in addition to scholarly success in a discipline relevant to the School.

Professor Craig Baillie is the Head of School and Dean (Agriculture and Environmental Science).  An agricultural engineering with 27 years’ experience and international reputation as a research leader, Craig brings longstanding experience at UniSQ from undergraduate study to over 16 years as a staff member.  As Acting Head of School, he was responsible for leading staff in a teaching and research-intensive environment and as Director, Centre for Agricultural Engineering led a key research centre with a research portfolio of up to $7 million.  Craig has been involved in major initiatives with Deere and Company on new and innovative farming technologies and with NASA on space agriculture.  He is also the recipient of a 2019 Fulbright Scholar Award to identify game-changing technology developments and strengthen collaborative research opportunities with the USA, working with Texas A&M University.
