Emma has been appointed as the new General Manager/ Director Clinical Services, Kew at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne

In this position Emma will lead the clinical workforce as well as contribute to the development and achievement of strategic initiatives.

Emma demonstrates a breadth of experience gained across both public and private healthcare environments.  Emma has worked with Cabrini Health since late 2017 and most recently held the position of Director of Acute In-Patient Projects for all health facilities covered by the organisation.  Since October 2018, Emma was responsible for leading a number of critical projects including the clinical commissioning of an 8 floor new hospital wing (Gandel Wing).  She also led and governed three successful public hospital elective surgery contracts with The Alfred Hospital and Monash Health across Cardiothoracic and Thoracic Surgery, Endoscopy Program and Elective Surgery. Emma was the endorsed representative of Cabrini Health to lead public contracts with both The Alfred Hospital and Monash Health.  These contracts are designed to support the Victorian Government and Public Health Sector Elective Surgical Program.  

Previously, as the Nurse Unit Manager ICU with Cabrini Hospital Emma managed 60 EFT in a 16-bed unit, while also spending time acting as the Nurse Director – Emergency & Medical Specialties.  During this period, Emma worked on a number of improvement projects including a Culture Working Group, Kronos Working Party and looking at case mix and revenue optimisation.

Prior to joining Cabrini Health, Emma was the Director of Clinical Services for Waverley Private Hospital.  A direct report to the CEO, Emma held responsibility for 100 EFT. Emma also worked on the redesign of the pre-admission process focussing on patient experience, administration and external partner engagement. As part of the implementation of the Strategic Workforce Plan, Emma managed a reduction in agency use from 12% to 2%.

In Emma’s earlier career, she managed Trauma and Orthopaedic Units at The Alfred Hospital.  She was a member of The Alfred Health Steering Committee where she contributed to areas including quality patient care, disability planning, HR and IT systems, and other operational planning.
