Kerry Thompson is the new Chief Executive Officer at the Municipal Association of Victoria. Kerry is a highly experienced and accomplished CEO/senior executive who has operated within state and local government, as well as the not for profit sector. Kerry was previously the acting CE of VicRoads and Deputy Secretary, Investment and Business at Transport for Victoria, a newly created Authority of State Government that sits within the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources. Having been appointed to the latter role in October 2016, Kerry significantly improved decision-making and accountability by establishing governance frameworks and ways of working across the transport portfolio.

Previously, Kerry was the CEO of the Lost Dogs Home. She improved the financial position and repaired reputational damage by improving governance policies and processes and building a culture of trust and transparency. Prior to this, from 2010 until 2015, Kerry was CEO of the City of Wyndham. Here she led a robust program of advocacy with state and federal government that resulted in a range of new benefits for the City. Kerry also served as the CEO of the City of Maribyrnong, the Acting CEO of the City of Melbourne and the Acting CEO of the City of Greater Geelong.
