Melanie Eagle is the new Board Chair for Respect Victoria at the Department of Health and Human Services (VIC). Since 2012, Melanie is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Hepatitis Victoria. Firther she is a Board member of Hepatitis Australia; Education Steering Committee for the Centre for Research and Excellence into Injecting Drugs Use (Burnet Institute); Member of Victorian Government’s Hepatitis Working Group. Previously she spent four years (2008 – 2012) at the now Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, leading stakeholder relations for ‘Melbourne 2030’ and joined governance arrangements to lead development of Melbourne’s metropolitan planning strategy for Victoria. In 2005 – 2008 Melanie worked with the Department of Justice, in women’s advocacy, victim’s services and social policy and spent her early career as a lawyer (1994 – 2002) in private practices until appointment in 2002 at the now Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission. Her Board experience includes Member, Victorian Disability Advisory Committee; Director, Alfred Health; Director, Star Health Service; Management Committee Member, Chronic Illness Alliance; Patron, Epilepsy Foundation and Mayor and Councillor of be then City of St Kilda.
