Professor James Shulmeister has been appointed as Head of School, School of Earth and Environment at the University of Canterbury

The University of Canterbury has appointed Professor James (Jamie) Shulmeister to the Head of School, School of Earth and Environment role, where he will provide strategic leadership, aligning the activities of the School with the strategic and operational objectives of the University.  This position is also responsible for course and teaching schedules and driving high-class research in the areas of geography, geology and associated disciplines.

Jamie is a quaternary geologist and geomorphologist with expertise in paleoclimatology and paleoecology, glacial and aeolian geomorphology and coastal evolution.  Most recently a Professor and a previous Head of School at the University of Queensland, where he drove an increase in the research performance, Jamie has held previous roles at the University of Canterbury and Victoria University of Wellington.  His publications include one edited book, 134 refereed journal articles and 11 refereed chapters.
