Professor Mick Grimley is Dean of Future Learning and Development at the University of Canterbury

Professor Mick Grimley recently returned to the University of Canterbury in June 2020 as the first Dean of Future Learning and Development to lead the continued development and implementation of a digital strategy for the University.

An experienced researcher and educator with over 30 years of experience, Mick’s most recent position was Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research and Dean, Education at Torrens University, where his achievements include leading the University’s research strategy through a TEQSA reaccreditation and the development of a new program of contemporary education courses, both online and on campus. Mick was previously the foundational Chair of Education at Swinburne University of Technology, where he also oversaw the development of a new program of education courses in online and face-to-face formats across the disciplines of early childhood, primary and secondary teacher education.  

Between 2002 and 2010 Mick served as lecturer, senior lecturer and associate professor in the School of Education Studies and Human Development at the University of Canterbury.  An accomplished researcher, focussed on enhancing human learning and cognition using digital technologies, Mick is also the recipient of two Vice-Chancellor’s awards for Teaching and Inclusion and a Dean’s Award for Teaching.
