Robin Copeland is the new Director Workforce Planning & Business Partnerships at The Royal Women’s Hospital (the Women’s)

This is a new position that has been created to provide strategic leadership and operational delivery of the human resources functions across the Women’s.

Robin demonstrates substantial experience gained in operational and corporate roles encompassing strategic and operational planning.  Over the past 12 years she has held executive positions responsible for people and culture functions, in roles within the independent healthcare sector and most recently at Griffith University.  In her recent position as Associate Director, HR Client Services at Griffith, Robin reported to the Chief People Officer and was responsible for HR Advisory Services, HR Business Partners and HR Systems teams. Robin has been the project lead for a Strategic Workforce Planning project and implemented a new service model that improved resolution of HR enquiries by more than 50%.

Prior to relocating back to Australia, Robin spent seven years in the United Kingdom with her final role being that of National Director of People, Performance and Quality with BMI Healthcare, the largest private hospital provider in the UK with 59 hospitals and 8,000 employees.  Reporting to the CEO, and a member of the Executive, Robin was responsible for human resources, learning and development, OH&S and coordination of the risk register framework.  During her tenure Robin was the director and executive sponsor for the implementation of Riskman which increased the level and accuracy of incidents being reported and the monthly reports to the Board. As executive lead, Robin decreased agency staff spend by more than £4M with further savings of £2M year on year.  Robin worked to implement standardised hospital structures, roles titles and profiles resulting in agreed role profiles and a reduction from 2,000 to 200 roles.  Robin updated performance appraisals to simplify the process, customised induction tools, developed a Management Development Framework and embedded a robust employee relations framework.

Before this Robin was the Director of People, Performance and Culture with Ramsay Health Care UK.  Robin’s role encompassed HR, OD, risk, and health and safety and later expanded to include clinical services covering the national clinical governance programme and revalidation of medical professionals.  Robin developed talent for Senior Manager roles, established a Customer Service Excellence programme and developed a Strategic Workforce Plan.

Prior to working in the UK, Robin spent approximately nine years with Ramsay Health Care Australia.
