Professor Tim Smith is Dean, Faculty of Environment, Society and Design at Lincoln University
Professor Tim Smith has been appointed to lead the Faculty of Environment, Society and Design at Lincoln University as Dean. With responsibility for the Faculty and its strategy, the Dean is the steward of excellence in teaching, research and service, fostering a culture of collaboration internally and with a range of external stakeholders.
A human geographer with expertise in coastal management, water governance, and climate change adaptation, Tim joins Lincoln from the University of the Sunshine Coast, where he has held roles including Executive Dean, Faculty of Arts, Business and Law, and as Director of the Sustainability Research Centre. Most recently an Australian Research Council Future Fellow, Tim also holds adjunct positions at Brock University (Canada), Southern Cross University and Uppsala University.
With significant strengths in research leadership and engagement, and a track record in leading large teams, Tim has also worked as an environmental scientist and waterways/project manager for state and local governments and is a former senior research scientist at CSIRO.
