Violet Platt has been selected as the next Chief Executive Officer at Palliative Care Victoria (PCV)

Violet has over 30 years’ experience working in the health sector, first as a Registered Nurse and for the last 13 years as a senior executive in WA Health, achieving a Lifetime Achievement Honour, in 2016, for her contribution to leadership, nursing, cancer and palliative care services by the WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards committee.

Violet has a proven career in leading significant change management programs which encapsulate cultural change, collaboration, negotiation and extensive internal and external stakeholder management. She is adept in utilising strategic abilities, analytical problem solving and fiscal management skills to deliver a range of policies, frameworks, strategies and action plans which deliver to the organisation’s missions and values.

As Co-Director and Director of Nursing at WA Cancer and Palliative Care Network (WACPCN), which she has held since 2006, Violet has had dual responsibility for the establishment, growth, and sustainability of WACPCN as a collaboration of medical, allied health, specialist nurses, administration, data, screening and business teams, working in a value-based high performing culture across all of the silos of health. Violet’s development of key strategic documents such as the WA Cancer Plan 2012-2017 and the WA End-of-Life and Palliative Care Strategy 2018-2028 are based on strong, continual and multiple stakeholders engagements in large groups, small groups, and with individuals. As a member of the National Cancer Expert Reference Group (NCERG) Violet advocates for the equality and fair distribution of services and services delivery improvement opportunities within the WA Government and the Commonwealth Health Department.

Violet is ready to embark on a new challenge and build on her networks in Victoria.
