Walter Fraser is Chief Operating Officer at the University of the South Pacific

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is a premier dual sector, research-intensive University serving the Pacific region and only one of three regional Universities in the world. Uniquely governed by its twelve Member Countries, USP is not only a higher education and research institution, but also a regional integration organisation that provides services within the communally agreed structured regional mechanisms geared towards benefiting the lives of the Pacific people.

Fisher Leadership was pleased to partner with USP in the appointment of key leadership roles to build a legacy.

As Chief Operating Officer, Walter Fraser will drive strategy and decision-making to ensure the effective operation of the University, enhancing both academic and business-related performance institution wide.  An experienced executive with over 30 years’ tertiary education leadership, Walter had responsibility for significant budgets and teams in his roles at AUT University and the University of Auckland.  Most recently at AUT, he led the strategic development of the Manukau campus, ensuring aligned strategies with the wider university and fostering meaningful relationships, particularly with Pacific communities.

Walter is also a trustee and board member of a number of charitable organisations and is a former member of the National University of Samoa Council.
