Dr Rick Ede is the new Chief Executive Officer at the Chisholm Institute
Dr Rick Ede has been appointed Chief Executive Officer at the Chisholm Institute. As the previous Chief Executive of Unitec Institute of Technology and Metro Group chairperson, Rick has been responsible for significant transformation to the organisation, committing Unitec to its aspiration of being a world-class, world-scale Institute of Technology that is an agent of economic, social and environmental transformation. Under his leadership, innovative collaborations saw IBM opening their only New Zealand-based delivery centre on campus, bringing employment opportunities for students with major national and international companies and has seen the development, in conjunction with Japan’s NICT, of New Zealand’s only cyber-security research laboratory.
Rick has a diverse background as an educator, researcher and strategic leader. In 2000, he joined Australia’s national research organisation, the CSIRO, where he held roles as Chief, Forestry and Forest Products Division and General Manager of Client and Partner Relationships. Rick also provided consultancy services to industry and educational organisations in Asia and North America. He is an alumnus of the London Business School, a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Chairperson of the Metro Group.
