Dr. Ian Graham has been appointed to the position of Chief Medical Officer at Latrobe Regional Hospital

Dr. Ian Graham has been appointed to the position of Chief Medical Officer at Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) and commenced in September 2022. In this position, Ian will provide high level medical advice and support with responsibility for clinical governance, patient safety, professional standards, continuous improvement, medical informatics and postgraduate medical education.

Ian has extensive experience and expertise in medical leadership and management, supported by knowledge, skills and experience in postgraduate medical education and health informatics.  Ian’s executive experience spans tertiary and quaternary teaching hospitals, in addition to urban, regional, subregional and small rural health services

Ian was the cofounder and is an honourary life member of the Health Informatics Society of Australia (now Australasian Institute of Digital Health).

Since February 2022 Ian has fulfilled the role of Interim Chief Medical Office with Latrobe Regional Hospital.  Ian has held the position of Executive Director of Medical Services with West Wimmera Health Service (25 years), East Wimmera Health Service (11 years) and Rural Northwest Health (2 years), together comprising 17 small rural hospital and community sites.  He has also consulted nationally and internationally and worked with the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria, the Royal Australasian Colleges of Surgeons, Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists where he was Dean of Education from 2014-2017.
