The Opportunity
The Australian Red Cross seeks to appoint a new Board Member to become Chair, Audit & Risk.  The Board Member will contribute to the organisation’s strategic direction and the achievement of the highest standards of governance.  The Chair, Audit & Risk, will be responsible for the management and effective performance of the Audit & Risk Committee.
The Australian Red Cross is a large, complex organisation that is actively reimagining itself in a fast-evolving world. As it contemplates operating models of the future, a forward-thinking, contemporary lens on risk will be required. The Chair, Audit & Risk will need to consider non-traditional risks and take a horizon scan approach to developing and maintaining contemporary and effective audit and risk governance.
Equipped with experience gained in large complex organisations, the Chair, Audit & Risk will have an exemplary background in finance, accounting, audit and risk. They will demonstrate commitment to applying principles of good governance and will be a member of the AICD. Possessing a high level of emotional intelligence, they will have a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Movement. Board level experience in a member-based organisation is advantageous.
The Organisation
The Australian Red Cross Society is part of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation. As a body independent of government; and with no political, religious or cultural affiliation, the organisation strives to improve peoples’ lives and build their resilience no matter who they are or where they live.
All Red Cross work is guided by the seven Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality.
