The Australian Red Cross Society is committed to protecting and upholding the health, dignity and wellbeing of vulnerable migrants in Australia.
The Position
The Board Member will be responsible for contributing to the appropriate strategic direction for the Red Cross, as well as for the achievement of the highest standards of governance including ensuring the financial viability, solvency and sustainability of the organisation.
With a migration background, the new Board Member will bring relevant and contemporary thinking to support the organisation’s humanitarian approach to supporting refugees, people seeking asylum, stateless persons, people who are trafficked, people in immigration detention and other people who are vulnerable as a result of migration.
Red Cross is committed to preventing and reducing the vulnerability of migrants and protecting them against abuses, exploitation and denial of their rights. The Organisation
The Australian Red Cross Society is part of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation. As a body independent of government; and with no political, religious or cultural affiliation, the organisation strives to improve peoples’ lives and build their resilience no matter who they are or where they live. The organisation supports and assists vulnerable people who have been impacted by migration, to gain opportunities and to access sustainable solutions for themselves and their families.
