The Position
The Board of BioMelbourne Network seeks to appoint a highly effective Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation through its next phase of growth. The CEO will build on the Network’s prominence as a highly influential and connected membership association for organisations across the health industry, encompassing biotechnology, medical technology, pharmaceuticals and health innovation companies, universities and medical research institutes, across the state of Victoria.
Reporting to the Board, the CEO is responsible for all strategic, operational, financial and administrative aspects of the organisation. Leading a small team, and overseeing a membership of approximately 200 organisations, the CEO is also accountable for building the Network’s reputation and profile, through engaging and managing external stakeholders and providing high-level advice to the Board on operations, policy and planning.
The successful candidate will be a strong executive and business leader with significant proven relevant experience, positive energy and credibility in driving operational excellence and leading policy development and policy analysis across contemporary and complex issues. Equipped with experience gained in the Australian health industry environment, the CEO will demonstrate a track record of positively influencing senior level external relationships and an ability to build a connected Membership Network. They will possess well developed business, financial and people leadership capabilities and ideally will have a Tertiary qualification in science, engineering or medicine and hold an MBA and/ or AICD qualification.
The Organisation
BioMelbourne Networks (BMN) has been supporting, connecting and leading the bioscience sector in Victoria for over 17 years.
Our purpose is to:
Proactively facilitate the development of a sustainable and globally competitive bioscience industry in Victoria. We facilitate this through fostering quality links and network engagement between key decision makers (including State and Federal Governments) across the bioscience industry value chain from innovation through healthcare delivery.
As we enter a new scientific and technology era of growth and development, the Network requires CEO who can transition the Network from a great connector to becoming a great catalyst for understanding and encouraging leadership and direction within the Melbourne/Victorian health supply chain and eco-system.
The Network’s focus is to identify and communicate priority issues affecting the health industry in Victoria. Knowledge, discussion and informed debate across the Bioscience community is created through the Network providing education/insight through symposia/ workshop/ networking forums to share and discuss evolving bioscience and healthcare delivery environment, drivers of change, current and future capability and technology evolutions.
