  • Champion global change and leadership
  • Drive highly entrepreneurial mission supporting women in STEMM
  • Foster collaboration of a global network

The Position
Homeward Bound (HB) is a ground-breaking, global leadership initiative, set against the backdrop of Antarctica, which aims to heighten the influence and impact of women leaders and emerging leaders in STEMM in making decisions that shape our planet.  Beginning as a social enterprise five years ago, HB now operates as a not-for-profit organisation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and is now seeking to appoint its first full time Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
An outstanding and dynamic values-driven leader will drive one of the world’s most unique leadership initiatives to create change. Reporting to the Board and working closely with a distinguished group of stakeholders and committed team members, the incoming CEO will steer the organisation through the delivery of a new strategic plan and provide visionary leadership to continue to drive impact across all aspects of HB’s mission.  The role accelerates an integral contribution to a global dialogue about the future of our planet, influencing policy, practice and shifting mindsets.
The CEO will foster a high-performing team and ensure the continued success of the organisation’s international programs. A future-focused and persuasive leader, with a track record of empowering people, including those with diverse backgrounds, you will have a track record in leading a programs-based or advocacy organisation and working with a Board.  With an inherent desire to tackle large-scale and big picture global challenges, you will be able to build collaborative relationships and networks across multiple stakeholders. A passion for philanthropy and a highly innovative approach to fundraising are required, matched with strong commercial acumen.  An understanding of leadership development and the not-for-profit sector will be an advantage.

The Organisation
Homeward Bound’s purpose is to amplify the voices of a global leadership network of STEMM women to foster a sustainable planet.
The visionary goal is that by 2036 we have powered a globally diverse leadership network of 10,000 STEMM women who are ensuring the sustainability of our planet. This is achieved through the delivery of a leadership development program, facilitated by a faculty of globally renowned experts, with the aim to increase participant skills in leadership, strategy, visibility for influence and science.
HB has now led four cohorts of women through the annual state-of-the-art program and Antarctic voyage, with fifth and sixth cohorts underway.  Each graduating cohort becomes part of a global network of like-minded women committed to demonstrating a model of leadership that will influence outcomes for a healthier planet, and a sustainable future for us all.
