The Position
The state-wide family violence response centre, Safe Steps, seeks to appoint a talented and dynamic leader to steer its Crisis Response Program and continue to build on the organisation’s best practice trauma and violence informed services. The Crisis Response Program Manager will oversee and manage the planning, implementation, monitoring and review of a range of processes, systems, projects and initiatives that are critical in supporting victims of domestic and family violence in their time of immediate and urgent crisis.
Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the Crisis Response Program Manager will lead, manage, mentor and motivate a team of specialists to ensure that high quality program performance and outcomes are consistently achieved.  A key element of the position is to strengthen relationships with direct service partners to ensure effective multi-agency responses.
Equipped with knowledge of family violence reforms and associated legislation, the successful candidate will have a track record of sound leadership in a range of contexts within the fields of family and domestic violence, human rights, social justice, mental health or disability and will have a demonstrated understanding of a crisis service. The appointee will have a recognised ability to manage complex risk presentations and will be able to evidence delivery of multiple programs within scope of service. Possessing outstanding interpersonal skills, the Crisis Response Program Manager will be supportive and collaborative and will offer a leadership style that nurtures and develops, challenges, and inspires staff.

Safe Steps delivers programs at a State and Federal level. The organisation plays a vital role in assisting women and children anywhere in Victoria at any time by providing the support, resources and protection they need to live their lives free from violence and abuse.
Safe Steps services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, and access to supported crisis accommodation. In addition Safe Steps also provide specialist counselling nationally, through 1800RESPECT.
Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a “state-wide entry point” for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
