The Position
Ambulance Victoria (AV) seeks to appoint a talented and dynamic Director of Diversity & Inclusion to join its newly established Equality & Workplace Reform Division. The incumbent will lead and embed organisation wide equality, diversity and inclusion priorities, including key priorities identified by the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission in its Independent review into workplace equality at Ambulance Victoria. Implementation of these initiatives has exceedingly high priority within the organisation and across the community, and by extension this position is high profile and high priority.
Reporting to the Executive Director Equality & Workplace Reform, the Director of Diversity & Inclusion will support AV to be subject matter experts and knowledge leaders in equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, and human rights. The Director will also drive the application of that expertise and knowledge to AV’s operations through a strong policy agenda, strengthened workplace strategies and practices, and improved capability and accountabilities.
The successful candidate will have high level working knowledge of equality, diversity and human rights and a proven record of creating safe, fair and inclusive workplaces and/or inclusive service delivery. They will have experience in the design, build, implementation and embedment of organisational development/people strategies that have driven transformational cultural change. Possessing a deep understanding of how systemic discrimination and privilege shape workplace experiences, the appointee will have a well-established connection with, and understanding of, diverse community groups. The incumbent will be recognised as a contemporary leader who has outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
