The Position
As the peak body in the pharmaceutical sector, Medicines Australia seeks a highly qualified and experienced executive for the role of Director, Policy and Research. The primary focus of the role is to ensure Medicines Australia is positioned to represent and facilitate consensus among member companies to influence the development of cogent government policy for positive, innovative medicines outcomes.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and managing a small team,this role is a key position within the leadership team and makes a significant contribution to the development and delivery of the policy strategy for Medicines Australia. The Director will be responsible for maintaining a high level of awareness and understanding of the pertinent issues affecting the health and innovative medicines industries across the Australian and international pharmaceutical sectors. Responsibilities also include leading and defining appropriate research strategies and analysis to maintain a strong information platform to better inform and promote Medicines Australia’s strategic position. Key stakeholders in this role will include member companies, government policy decision makers, advocacy groups and, academic and research communities.
To be successful you will bring commercial/ business acumen that will support your ability to negotiate and influence outcomes for Medicines Australia and their members. Your academic credentials and past experience in leading complex policy from an industry perspective, and a broad understanding of the economics and finances that underpin decision making, will ensure success. High level communication and representation skills, stakeholder management and leadership capabilities are essential. Qualifications in economics, law and/ or sciences would be an advantage. Commercial or industry experience is desirable.
