The Position
The Department for Education and Child Development (SA) are seeking to attract high calibre candidates to provide strategic, innovative educational leadership for the achievement of the organisation’s strategic priorities and outcomes.
The Department is expanding its Education Director team to strengthen the leadership provided to site leaders as they focus on delivering growth for every child through a collaborative learning culture, underpinned by clear support and accountability processes. As educational experts, the Directors will support leaders to implement the Early Years Learning Framework, Australian Curriculum and department policies for curriculum design, assessment and moderation.
The Directors will play a key role in supporting the school leadership to have a continuous improvement focus, underpinned by strong site improvement strategies. They will directly support site leaders to build the capability of their teams and to effectively access and deploy resources to respond effectively to the needs to children, young people and their families. Further, the Directors will be required to provide high level policy and operational advice to the relevant Minister and the Senior Executive team within the Department.
The Education Directors will be proven leaders who are able to build high performing teams focussed on quality outcomes. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills coupled with critical and creative thinking, the ability to lead and manage change, and build strong and effective partnerships with government, school and community stakeholders. Expertise in teaching and learning practice which is informed by data and evidence are crucial elements for the successful candidates. They will also need to be politically savvy, able to manage complexity and ambiguity with effective influencing skills. All applicants will need to demonstrate commitment to public sector values.
