The Position
St Basil’s Homes is a values-based Aged Care provider in Melbourne’s North. As the organisation moves forward to a new day, the Board seeks to appoint a talented clinical professional to become its Facility Manager and manage all aspects of residential care with a strong focus on delivering high quality clinical care. The new Facility Manager can count on the Board’s resolute commitment and support in continual improvements.
In this pivotal executive role, the Facility Manager will provide leadership, supervision, mentoring and guidance to Clinical Care Coordinators and senior nursing staff to ensure the provision of care services are delivered in accordance with the Aged Care Act as well as other related health legislation systems. In addition to monitoring risk management and championing continuous quality improvement, the Facility Manager will manage the day to day operations of the facility including staffing, rostering, budgets, ACFI and bed occupancy.
The successful candidate will be a registered nurse with current AHPRA registration and experience in the management of residential aged care facilities. A sound understanding of the Aged Care Act, Aged Care Standards, accreditation and other regulatory requirements, including exposure to complex quality assurance frameworks is essential, as is extensive knowledge of funding issues in aged care. The appointee will be an energetic and resilient leader who is prepared to take the organisation on a journey into a new chapter of its organisational evolution.
Experience in meeting the needs of people from non-English speaking backgrounds is essential. Post graduate qualifications in health services management, gerontology or related field is desirable.
The Organisation
The ministry of St Basil the Great is reflected in the work of St Basil’s Homes for the Aged, which believes that all people regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, gender and age are entitled to high quality aged care. St. Basil was born in Asia Minor in the 4th Century. As Bishop, he preached and practiced the scriptural command of charity, establishing and supporting various philanthropic and welfare institutions, and comforting and caring for the sick, the needy and the elderly. He spoke out on issues of social justice, poverty and prejudice.
St Basil’s Home for the Aged is an Australian registered charity whose sole purpose is the provision of aged care. The facility in Fawkner has been in existence for over 40 years. With 150 bed licenses it has developed expertise in providing aged care services that are culturally and linguistically appropriate.
The newly appointed Board members are committed to resetting and embedding high quality care practices.
