The Position

Ruyton Girls’ School seeks to appoint a collaborative and innovative educator to the position of Head of Junior School. As an influential and relational leader, the Head of Junior School will play a key role in implementing the School’s new Strategic Plan and creating the future of Ruyton.

Reporting to the Principal and supporting Ruyton’s whole school philosophy, the position will be responsible for the leadership, management and development of the Junior School and its programs and ensure the delivery of quality education.  With a current cohort of approximately 330 students the Junior School embraces the development of a thinking culture through inquiry based learning, promoting strong student engagement and agency. The Director of Early Learning reports to this role.

Demonstrating exceptional leadership experience as a current or aspiring Head in a Junior School environment, the appointee will display an obvious drive and passion for primary education.  With a personable and engaging communication style and the ability to nurture stakeholder relationships, the appointee will exhibit a clear ability to continue the dedicated leadership experienced by Ruyton to date.  A strong background in educational standards and contemporary assessment will be key to guide the development of individualised learning journeys. The appointee will have a clear vision for girls’ education and the ability to guide others while actively promoting and fostering the values that underpin Ruyton.
