The Position
The Safe and Healthy Environments unit’s purpose is to protect and promote the health and safety of the community and the environment by monitoring risks, evaluating systems, determining and implementing appropriate interventions, and evaluating impact. Services delivered include Local Laws, Environmental Health, Parking Services, Animal Services and Building Services.
Reporting to the Director, Healthy Communities and Environments, the role leads the delivery of high-quality services and programs that are innovative and responsive to community needs. The Manager leads a large team and promotes a culture that is high performing, collaborative, community focused, and promotes learning and development. The Manager will lead the implementation and review of relevant local laws, plans and strategies, and develop strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders including state government departments and agencies, industry leaders, advocacy groups and community.
The successful applicant will be a contemporary, collaborative leader that is strongly aligned to the values of the City of Greater Bendigo. Bringing technical expertise and experience in the application of legislation and regulation at a community level. the Manager, Safe and Healthy Environments will have the ability to build resilient high performing teams and a culture that is positive, innovative and collegiate. The ability to deliver complex projects, build collaborative partnerships and networks, and present high-quality reports will also be important for the success of this role.
