The Position
Ambulance Victoria (AV) seeks to appoint a self-motivated and intellectually curious Senior Policy and Research Manager to join its newly established Equality & Workplace Reform Division. The incumbent will draw on equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion and human rights policy, research and analysis to influence and set the strategic direction for AV as it moves to become an employer of choice and a leader in workplace equality. This new direction forms a key part of AV’s response to the independent review into workplace equality by the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC) and has exceedingly high priority within the organisation and by extension this position is high profile and high priority.
Reporting to the Director of Diversity & Inclusion, the Senior Policy and Research Manager will focus on formulating and implementing critical, strategic policy initiatives relating to workplace equality and human rights by completing complex investigative and analytical work, and critical environmental scanning to support fit-for-purpose, contemporary policy positions. This includes developing, evaluating and managing key legislative parts of the organisation’s reform program and ensuring the organisation is responsive to emerging and new legislative changes related to workplace equality.
The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of Victoria’s equal opportunity and human rights laws and frameworks as well as leading practice approaches to creating safe, fair and inclusive workplaces. Evidencing a track record in progressing key workplace equality reforms at scale, the appointee will have extensive management level experience in public policy and will have thorough knowledge of Cabinet and Parliamentary processes. As a strong conceptual and analytical thinker with well-developed problem solving skills, the incumbent will be a clear speaker and writer and will be able to interact credibly with a range of stakeholders. They will be known as a leader who readily supports, coaches and mentors.
A tertiary qualification in law, public policy or business management, or a related discipline, is preferred.
