The Board is seeking to appoint new Directors with any or a combination of the following capabilities:

  • Finance/Accounting/investment management, along with strong corporate governance
  • Digital marketing/Cybersecurity
  • Corporate/Commercial/Business Development
  • Philanthropy/fundraising
  • People and Culture/WHS.

 
To complement current board membership, diversity is sought across geographic, gender and cultural backgrounds.
 
The Stroke Foundation is seeking to appoint two independent non-executive members. In addition to fiduciary duties and responsibilities, members of the Stroke Foundation Board are expected to:

  • Champion the Stroke Foundation’s vision, mission, and values to internal and external stakeholders and
  • Serve as ambassadors and advocates for the Stroke Foundation and;
  • Maintain beneficial relationships with donors, funders, supporters, collaborators, and other stakeholders to further the Stroke Foundations mission.

 
The position of Director requires attending approximately six (6) board meetings per year. Board meetings are held face to face in Melbourne and/or by video conference. Directors are also expected to serve on a nominated Board subcommittee and attend meetings held quarterly by video conference. The role of the Director is for a 3-year term with option for re-appointment for a further two terms (maximum tenure is three terms (nine years)) and is honorary/voluntary.
 
The Board is ultimately responsible for the oversight and review of the management, administration and overall governance of the Foundation.
Specific experience is sought in any or a combination of:

  • Finance/Accounting/investment management, along with strong corporate governance
  • Digital marketing/Cybersecurity
  • Corporate/Commercial/Business Development
  • Philanthropy/fundraising
  • People and Culture/WHS.

 
Where individuals offer relevant experience from diverse backgrounds, first time board members will be considered as part of this process. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to consider the opportunities.
