Shawn Walker is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) at the University of Southern Queensland

Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) oversees a diverse and growing engagement agenda at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). The position demonstrates the value that USQ, as an open and engaged institution, can bring to its communities.  As a member of the University’s executive team, the PVC (Engagement) provides strategic vision and leadership across the portfolios of development and alumni; marketing, communications and media; and engagement with stakeholders.

Bringing executive leadership experience in integrating a commercial approach to the management and operations of Australian universities, Shawn Walker has been appointed to this key leadership role.  With key skills in marketing, communications, sales, customer experience, innovation and stakeholder relationship management, he has a track record in establishing a positive work culture, consistently achieving outstanding engagement in his teams and beyond.  Most recently Chief Marketing Officer at Charles Sturt University, Shawn was the executive lead for the management of the future student lifecycle and he successfully delivered a restructure of the marketing function and brand transformation.  He has also held relevant leadership roles at La Trobe University and the Australian Catholic University.
