Tanya Buchanan has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer with Dementia Australia

Professor Tanya Buchanan has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer with Dementia Australia. In this position Tanya will be accountable to the Board for leadership, strategy, and operational execution of the strategy to progress its vision, mission, and values. Tanya will play a vital role enabling Dementia Australia to create an inclusive future where all people living with dementia receive the care and support they choose.

Tanya has worked in complex organisations and as an experienced chief executive brings a track record of achievement and delivering outcomes in each of her roles. Tanya is adept in her advocacy, able to lead and take a central role or, when appropriate, facilitate and support others.  An experienced CEO, she brings proven skills in working with boards and ensuring strong governance.

Before this, Tanya was the Chief Executive Officer at Cancer Council Australia where she led on a range of national prevention, screening, service and advocacy initiatives. Tanya also holds an Honorary Professor of Practice role in public health at the University of Wollongong.
